Tax Investigation Support
One of our Partners, Roger Hesketh, has specific expertise in dealing with H M Revenue and Custom’s investigations. He is responsible for forensic tax investigation work.
He trained with the Inland Revenue and spent the last ten years with them as an Inspector of Taxes specialising in investigation work. From 1985 he was one of their Senior Investigations Mangers.
In 1987 he left the Inland Revenue to join one of the National firms of Chartered Accountants as a Senior Tax Manager where he used his investigations specialism to form units for both their Manchester and then Leeds offices. He also offered remuneration planning advice as well as assisting clients whose financial accounts were being investigated by the Inland Revenue. This assistance extended to include Inland Revenue investigations of payroll, benefits and National Insurance matters.
In 1992 he set up his own tax consultancy practice again specialising in Inland Revenue investigations and employee remuneration issues.
Whilst some of Roger’s work comes from within the firm’s client base a significant part is from referrals from national firms of solicitors and other advisors. He offers assistance to clients being investigated by all levels of H.M. Revenue and Customs ranging from HMRC prosecutions to local office reviews. He has also been engaged as a defence expert witness in H.M. Revenue and Customs prosecutions.
